We were visited by the BBC Countryfile team during December whilst they filmed a piece about life on a Cornish farm at Christmas.
It was very exciting for all of us, but particularly the Hawkey children who couldn’t believe they were actually going to be on TV!
Adam joined Andrew in one of our fields and they talked about how the mild Cornish climate allows us to lamb half of our ewes during November and December. Adam made his way to the lambing shed to find Olly and helped him to take some young lambs with their mothers up to the “nursery”, under our solar panels. Then Adam chatted to Shaun about how the farm has diversified over the years with the conversion of barns into holiday cottages and our investment into renewable energy. Finally, Adam joined The Hawkey Family in the farmhouse kitchen for a Cornish Christmas Tea, of pasties, sausage rolls, cakes and of course, mince pies with Cornish clotted cream!
Our whole family gathered to watch the programme when it aired on the 20th December. It was a lovely episode and showcased Cornwall at Christmas.
Watch it here, available until the 25th January.
