St Nectan’s Glen and Tintagel Castle

A relatively energetic day, but you can pick and choose which bits to do! We’d recommend booking Tintagel Castle for later in the day so that it’s getting quieter rather than busier, which gives you all morning to explore St Nectan’s Glen and enjoy a picnic in Rocky Valley.

St Nectan’s Glen is a truly beautiful and spiritual place to visit. The earlier you can get here the better as the car park is small and there are few alternative places to park (check opening times as they vary during the year). Find the car park in Trethevy on the B3263 (PL34 0BE). Enjoy a walk through the woods to the waterfalls entrance (small entrance fee from here). Then wander down to see the spectacular waterfalls and the circular walk, not forgetting to spend a few quiet moments in The Hermitage.

If you’re feeling energetic you can follow the footpath near the river into Rocky Valley. From the road it’s about a mile down to the sea through a valley filled with surprises. If you pack a picnic, this is a wonderful place to stop and enjoy it.

After lunch head back to Tintagel and your appointment at the castle! (please do make sure to book ahead). Cross the spectacular bridge and explore the ruins of “King Arthurs Castle”! Be sure to walk out to the headland and find the amazing sculpture Gallos, inspired by the legend of King Arthur.
