From the Middle Ages to the mid 19th century Port Isaac has been a busy coastal port, where cargoes of stone, coal, timber and pottery ware were loaded and unloaded. Fishing and its processing continue here to this day.
Quaint 18th and 19th century whitewashed cottages cling to the steep sides of the tiny port with alleys and pathways to explore, which are now familiar from the television series Doc Martin; try to find the passageway known as Squeeze-ee-Belly!
From Port Isaac you can stride along the spectacular cliffs to Tintagel, each twist and turn of the winding coastal footpath reveals another breathtaking view.
In Port Isaac there are many places to find a good meal, but only park on the beach car park if you have found out the tide times!!
