Towns & Villages in Cornwall « Boscastle

Boscastle is a narrow inlet and has one of the few natural harbours on the North Cornish Coast. This ancient port made the headlines in August 2004 with the worst flash flood in Britain for half a centruy. The village winds up the hill behind the harbour and is still a place of real community life.

Today you would hardly see any evidence of that dreadful event in 2004, the shop, pubs, cafe's and restaurants are better than ever.

The National Trust owns most of the harbour and surrounding land, walk up the beautiful Valency valley and see the lovely church of St Juliot, a favourite haunt of the writer Thomas Hardy.
