Gardens in Cornwall « Lanhydrock

Lanhydrock is the finest house in Cornwall superbly set in wooded parkland of 450 acres and encircled by a garden of rare shrubs and trees, lovely in all seasons. It has exceptional magnolias, hardy hybrid rhododendrons and a unique circular herbaceous garden. Superb parkland setting in the Fowey valley, with miles of walks through woods and along the river.

There are 50 rooms in the house to view ranging from richly furnished main rooms reflecting Victorian comfort to maid's bedrooms, the great kitchen and the Nursery wing. Fascinating aspects of life and the inner workings of this wealthy well-run household in this late Victorian country house.

It was first built in the 17th century, the main rooms all have magnificent plaster ceilings including the Long Gallery illustrating scenes from the Old Testament.

The idylic walk through the gatehouse takes you down to the River Fowey at Respryn Bridge and back through the woods.
