Andrew, Janice and family live at The Olde House, which is part and parcel of Penpont Farm, having been in the Hawkey family for three generations. The farm itself is 550 acres and as well as arable crops, we raise cattle and sheep. The farm is busy and holidaymakers are welcome to watch and join in some farming activities.
We are very family orientated and we have tried to reflect that in our farm and holiday cottages.
At the heart of Penpont Farm were a number of stone and slate barns which we first started converting some years ago, when Cornwall was being heavily promoted as a holiday destination.
Our first conversions and the beginning of our journey into the holiday business started with our cottages Manor, Bridge and Marsh. They were so popular, mixing a working farm with the peace and quiet of the country, that over the years we have converted a number of other buildings into comfortable holiday cottages, as well as building some brand new cottages in the traditional style.
Our most ambitious plan was the opening of an indoor heated swimming pool and leisure centre, situated in the very heart of the farm, which over the years has become the focal point for everyone. It boasts a sauna, whirlpool bath and small children’s pool as well as a nice size heated swimming pool with a full-size snooker table.
Our cottages are well appointed, cosy and open all year, they are ideal for young and old alike. Christmas and New Year are particularly popular as are Spring and Autumn holidays here in Cornwall. The children will love the swimming pool, large play area, tennis courts, indoor play barn with ball pool and indoor pets corner, all within an environment which is safe for the children and thoroughly relaxing for parents.
The farm trail gives visitors of all ages a taste of the country, and we are ideally positioned for exploring the rugged North Cornwall coastline which is only a few minutes drive away. This unspoilt part of Cornwall can provide the holidaymaker with a wide range of activities at any time of year and Chapel Amble is ideally situated to take advantage of all the county has to offer.
We have a small selection of individual, quaint cottages or larger farmhouses in and around Chapel Amble which can offer the holidaymaker something special but situated only a few minutes car or bike ride away from the facilities at The Olde House.
We hope we have been able to give you just a flavour of what is on offer at The Olde House. If you would like to know more then give us a ring or drop in and have a look around.
We offer a holiday which takes you away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, whilst giving you all the comforts of home. We look forward to welcoming you and your family to The Olde House in the near future. We are here to make sure you have a happy and enjoyable holiday with us in Chapel Amble.
